Q&A with Metropolitan Movers Franchisee Josh Albert

Why did you become a franchisee with Metropolitan Movers?
I chose Metropolitan Movers because I was part of the system. I was working for a Mississauga location as a mover so I understood from the inside how to run the business. With the support from the people in the head office, it was very easy for me to transition from the mover into the business owner.

What do you enjoy most about being a franchisee?
When I became a business owner, there were a lot of things that I struggled with at the beginning but I got a lot of assistance through it. Once I got through those initial stages, then I was able to take it to the next level. Now, I love it because I’m able to manage my own business and build it from the ground up. I took it from one truck and just a couple of crew members to where I am now.

In what ways do you support or get involved in your local community? Why is this important to you?
I think it’s really important to have community involvement. We donate money to Second Harvest monthly and they create meals out of it and give it back to the community. I also like to allocate some time to the basketball youth. I’m able to mentor these kids and teach them about basketball and about the future. I’m also able to allocate my company’s time to help transport goods to organizations such as the Salvation Army. This community involvement, which I love to do, is only available to me because of the fact that I’m a franchise owner.
